Naming Alerts

What you call your alert and how you describe it will change the way it looks when SMS or email messages are sent out.

Alerts With No Description

If your alert has a name but no description, the name will be appended to the name of the measurement - this will be then sent out in the alerts.

For example…

  • Measurement Name: Main Tank Level
  • Alert Name: High
  • Alert Description:
  • Final Text: Main Tank Level High

Alerts With A Description

If your alert has a name and description, the description text is sent out instead of the name of the measurement.

You must ensure that your description is unique enough to uniquely identify the measurement point.

For example…

  • Measurement Name: Main Tank Level
  • Alert Name: High
  • Alert Description: The primary tank is high
  • Final Text: The primary tank is high

Alerts With A Message

If your alert has a message attached to it, your description and name are ignored and the content of the message is sent instead.
