Adding the Device to rAware

Choose Your Node

An rAware node needs to be able to access the device to send the information to the server.

Simply browse to the node page of the node you want to add the new device to.

Once you've found the node and are looking at the device list, press 'Add Device'.

NOTE: This step does not apply for email gateway devices

You rAware node will now search the network, looking for any devices that are active. After 5-20 seconds, the search will be completed and the list will show you all of the available devices to connect to.

If the device is from a recognised manufacturer, it will appear with a white background. Unknown devices appear with a grey background.

You should be able to use the manufacturer name and/or the IP address of the unit to determine which device your new unit is - however, as a last resort almost all devices will have their MAC address printed on them - you can use this to definitiviely identify the item you're connecting to.

Choose Type

Now that you've selected the address of the device, you'll be able to choose what type of device it is from our integrated devices list.

After you've found the correct model number, press 'Continue'.

Enter Any Additional Details

Depending on the type of device you've picked, you might be asked for additional details before you can proceed. This is common in Modbus Gateways.

Name It And Choose I/O Points

And as the last step, give your device a name and choose the details for each of your measurement channels.

If you are not going to use a particular channel, turn 'enabled' to 'off'.

Give each measurement a name that clearly identifies what it is measuring.

And We Are Done

And that's it. After you hit 'Save Name' the device will be brought online and you'll start getting new measurements.
