An alert group describes the group of users who will be notified of an alert when it occurs.

Assigning users to each and every alert individually would be extremely painful in large applications. By making a re-usable group, it's much easier to set up your notification and maintain it in the future.

Alert groups can be created via the admin page, under alert groups.

To add users to a group, simply edit the group via the admin page and check-off all of the users you want notified of this type of event.

Additionaly, check which methods of notification you would like to use (note that you have monthly free SMS limit - any messages over your quota will be charged)

By adjusting the 'delay' value, you can delay notification of an alert.

You can also create 'escalating' notifications - creating one set of users who are notified of an alert immediately, then a second set that are notified if the first have not resolved the problem within a certain amount of time.

In fact, since each individual can have a different delay, you can make notification schemes that are as simple or as complex as you like.

Note that a delay of '0' results in an immediate notification.
