Managing Nodes

Nodes are one of the fundamental components of the rAware system - they are responsible for transmitting the data to the main rAware server.

There are actually a couple of different types of node…

Node Types

Physical Nodes

These are hardware devices purchased from Optrix or one of its partners. It connects to your data sources and devices and funnels the data securely to the rAware web service.

Virtual Nodes

These are similar in most respects to physical nodes, but rather than running on a separate piece of hardware such as one of our DIN-rail mounted nodes, it runs as a virtual server on your network infrastructure.

Service Nodes

Service nodes cater for devices that are not as intelligent as our own physical and virtual nodes. These are devices that already have some form of web functionality (most often the ability to send email status updates) and can be linked into rAware.

For example, the Control By Web X-310 is a small, low cost DIN-mounted device that can send email updates when the status of the device changes. Using the 'Email Gateway' service node, you can connect the unit to rAware.

Adding, Editing and Maintaining Nodes

Your nodes are allocated directly by Optrix or your partner - you can not actually add or delete a node yourself.

However, you can assign a node to any one of your locations.

Simply visit the main page, navigate to a location (by clicking on its name in the page or on the sidebar and hit 'Add Node' to be shown a list of your available nodes.
